AEI provided civil site design, utility design and coordination, geotechnical investigation, ALTA surveying, testing, inspection and permitting for the Meijer Retail Center (Store #288) in Owensboro, Kentucky to be opened in the Spring of 2016. This 194,958 s.f. facility was developed on 21 acres off Heartland Crossing and Byers Avenue. Some of the unique civil design features provided by AEI included the following:
• An aggressive chemical stabilization approach required for the local soils that more discreetly identified stabilization needs in order to save approximately $500,000 in soil stabilization using conservative approaches on similar projects in the area.
• A large segmental retaining wall (Redi-Rock©) was used to assist with grading and also provide an aesthetic feature separating Meijer from the existing Menards store.
• A city required Greenbelt Shared Use Path was incorporated in the site.
• AEI was able to analyze capacity and utilize an existing storm sewer trunk line along the main road on the Owensboro, Kentucky site.
